Day 2

Our first full day in Luxembourg started with a trip to a fortress named Casemates that was constructed in the year 963 for the defense of Luxembourg. We took a tour through the Casemates that brought us several stories down beneath the surface level and explored various caves.
We then made our way to the chamber of commerce for lunch and an introductory class with Antoine who explained a bit about Sacred Heart Universities program in Luxembourg.
After this class session I decided to wander through Luxembourg and was Joined by Rachel Smith and John Leahy. We quickly found our way off the beaten path and made our way under the Red Bridge towards the river. We found a park with some  small zip lines and a swing set and decided to relax. In all we walked for about 4 hours before making it to the city center for dinner. It was at this first dinner on our own that we discovered what appeared to be a dietary staple in Luxembourg… Mayonnaise. We quickly learned that asking for no mayo was absolutely necessary.
Later that night I found my self with a pretty good group who wanted to go out to Clausen and explore the bars. It was a Monday night and so there were few people aside from the SHU students out for the night. However, the group of people who I went out with managed to strike up conversation with some Business/ Law students from Hamburg, Germany. The pairing of these two different groups went very well and we spoke for hours. One of the guys we were talking to, Wiktor inquired about our studies and lit up when we mentioned "social entrepreneurship”. Wiktor shared with us that he is a part of the first really free generation in Poland and it was particularly inspired by the idea of doing good with business. By the end of the night we had ourselves an invite and a place to stay in Hamburg.
